“Together, we founded Patrick McCabe Architects in 2013, to focus on residential design.

We both graduated in Architecture from UCD and from there, worked in Dublin and London, learning our trade and craft in large commercial firms before returning to Galway. From 1992, as Directors of a large regional firm, we became rooted in the West of Ireland, it’s culture, language, ambition, and thirst to look outward for inspiration, and harness this for local context.

In 2013, we decided to focus solely on residential design and offer a bespoke, dedicated, and hands-on design service.

As a family, we built a house, created a home, extended and modified it to suit growing  needs—so we know a lot now about good house design….from the functional needs of storage, access, orientation, etc., to the aspirational needs of infusing joy and ambiance into our homes. Our mission is “to enhance lives through innovative design”.

We are passionate about architecture and design, and feel fortunate to be able share our own life experiences with you, in your journey to  realising your new or extended home.

After all, building or extending a house is probably the greatest investment you will make in your lifetime, and therefore deserves a dedicated, bespoke design service.”
